Central City is a stage in mh:crappygames:Shadow the Hedgehog. Central City is one of the five fourth stages and can only be reached by completing the Dark mission of Cryptic Castle. It is the first level in the Pure Dark pathway.

Along with The Doom, and Lost Impact, Central City is hated for its confusing design, tedious length, and having the dubious distinction of being the only level in the game without a goal ring.

Why It Sucks

  1. To get the elephant out of the room, it is the only level in the game that doesn't have a goal ring.
  2. Both the Dark and Hero missions are very tedious:
    • The Dark mission involves Shadow detonating giant bombs by attacking them.
    • The Hero mission with Knuckles involves Shadow disposing of the small bombs with the Vacuum Pod.
  3. The layout is very confusing, and it's very easy to get lost. It doesn't help that the Dark and Hero mission paths overlap with each other, and the map reuses level assets from Westopolis, the very first level in the game.
  4. Another thing that makes both missions tedious is that they're timed. While 8 minutes may sound like a lot, it isn't due to the level's confusing, non-linear layout.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The level is made somewhat easier in Expert Mode, which is a repeat of the Dark mission, except that the path has been made slightly more linear, and there's no time limit.
