City Slicking (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki

City Slicking is the final test given by Advanced Driving School to protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

What is required of the player?

The player is given 120 seconds to navigate around the city of San Fierro towards Otto's Autos car showroom across town, and return to the Driving School without causing any actual damage to the vehicle or stopping the vehicle. Completing the test under 100 seconds without damaging the car earns the player a gold medal.

Why It Sucks

  1. Artificial difficulty: The car provided, the Super GT, is one of the worst sports cars in the entire game handling-wise. It possesses nearly no grip, and going around a corner even at medium speeds will cause it to spin out of control and crash.
  2. The test will automatically fail if the car comes to a stop, which is something that can easily happen given how poorly the Super GT handles.
  3. Unlike other Driving School tests, which take place in the school's spacious training ground, this test takes place on the streets of San Fierro. Meaning that you have to dodge endless bouts of traffic while travelling at breakneck speed, and the fact that GTA SA's NPCs are infamous for their reckless driving only make things worse.
  4. NPC traffic cars are rigged to spawn in very awkward positions (i.e. spawning at an intersection without warning).
  5. The Super GT is also very fragile, its durability is so poor that going up a hill too quickly will dent the front bumper.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. Unless you're going for 100% completion, there is no need to score gold to complete this test.
