EGG X (Sonic Advance)

Eggman must be seriously running out of ideas when he decided to create this.

The EGG X is a machine created by Dr. Eggman and boss fight of Sonic Advance. It is the main boss of X-Zone, the seventh and penultimate level of the game, is the third boss of that level and is overall the ninth and penultimate boss of the game.

The EGG X has been rather infamous and disliked by players for its qualities, and also for its overall high difficulty.

Why It Sucks

1. The design of the EGG X is laughable, it's just the Egg Mobile (or Egg-O-Matic) with a disc around it.
   1. To make things more disrespectful, this is the same game where Eggman made the Egg Hammer Tank (the first boss of the game) and Mecha Knuckles (the sixth boss of the game).
2. Very odd music track that plays during the battle.
3. Being the penultimate boss of the game, the EGG X has an arsenal of attacks that are hard to dodge, and to make matters worst, Eggman will use these attacks at random, so that means you won't know what attack he'll do next.
   1. Bombs: The EGG X will launch bombs that will bounce around the arena, this attack can cluster up the arena, and sometimes he will fire more of them at once.
   2. Claw: The EGG X will also launch a giant claw that if hit on contact, will grab your character and shake off all of your rings, however it is easy to dodge, Eggman will first aim at the player before firing it, making it also somewhat tricky to avoid and can catch the Player off-guard.
   3. Laser: The EGG X can also fire a clear white colored energy beam, this is probable the hardest attack as it comes out really quickly with little to no warning.
   4. Charge: The EGG X can charge at the player at random with little to no warning.
4. To damage the EGG X, you have to wait until the disc goes down to launch its weapons, revealing the cockpit that Eggman is in and then hit it, this is easier said than done as it is only down for a split second when he is going to use its attacks.
5. Just like the previous bosses, the EGG X takes eight hits to be defeated.
6. If you get a game over to the EGG X, you have to start the entire level all over again.
7. If you though that the EGG X is bad, well here is the worst part, being that Sonic Advance has a secret true final boss after the EGG X that can only access by gathering all of the Chaos Emeralds, the game will give out a tip that the Player Character has gather all eight of the Chaos Emeralds, and after that, they have refight the EGG X all over again just to fight the True Final Boss.
8. Wasted Potential,the EGG X was "supposedly" Eggman's "latest and greatest creation" (which is not), so for the EGG X to be something like this, is just disappointing.

Redeeming Qualities

1. While odd, the music track that plays during this battle is still pretty good.
2. Before the battle you are given rings, so at least the fight with the EGG X is a bit tolerable.
3. The arena you fight the EGG X in is cool looking.
4. If you gather all of the Chaos Emeralds before entering the final level and defeat the EGG X (or vise versa), you gain access to the true final boss of the game, so at least it will be worth it.

Tips

• Be sure you get plenty of extra lives.
• The easiest way to damage the EGG X is by letting it do its charge attack, as the cockpit is revealed during the attack
