Evil Players (Epic Battle Fantasy 5)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki

(This is the 400th post on Atrocious Gameplay Wiki) (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)

The Evil Players (aKa, Matteus, Natalia, Lancelot, Annabelle and God) are five optional superbosses from Epic Battle Fantasy 5, that can be fought on the Temple of Trials, and are the renditions of Matt, Natalie, Lance, Anna and Nolegs, each one with their own status effect.

Why they're unfun

As a Whole

  1. The player must first defeat Sól, Skadi, Neon Valhalla, Telperion, Vulcan and Crystal Hydra, in order to fight them.
    • Because the superbosses mentioned can only be found on the steam version, Matteus, Natalia, Lancelot, Annabelle and God cannot be fought on the web version.
  2. Level Scaling: Matteus, Natalia, Lancelot, Annabelle and God will be at the same level as Matt, Natalie, Lance, Anna and Nolegs.
  3. Each one of them will apply a permanent status effect that will stay even after they died.
  4. They're very hard to capture.
  5. To get a medal, you have to fight each one of them on Epic mode.
  6. While their summon are very good, they also require a large amount of Summon Points.

Matteus

  1. You aren't able to perform Limit Breaks, unlike him.

  2. You have 15 turns to defeat or capture Matteus before Stoned deals destructive damage, otherwise it's a game over.
  3. Matteus has high defences, requiring you to perform damage combos.
  4. Matteus is immune to Earth and Wind damage (the former being absorbed), Stagger, Curse, Bad Luck, and has a resistance to Weaken and Tired. He also gains a resistance to Fire, Poison and Dark damage on More Foe Resistance.
  5. Many attacks that Matteus can perform can inflict status effects like Doom, Tired and Poison.
    • He's also able to cast Ragnarok and Cleaver.
  6. Matteus's attacks can unleash an attack that either deals Earth, Bio or Water damage.
  7. Matteus is able to heal himself, and cast Protect on his allies as well.

Natalia

File:EBF5Natalia.png
  1. Any spells or summons that can heal or revive any characters is negated, forcing you to rely on items
  2. Natalia has very high Magic Defence, forcing you to rely on physical attacks.
  3. Many of Natalia's attacks are Fire and Holy based, and her allies ranges between Mage Dogs, Angel Mirrors, Gold Fishes and Roasted Gloorps. The reason this is a problem, is that your Fire and Holy resistances are reduced by 100% by the status effect, Undead.
  4. Natalia is immune to Fire and Holy damage (which are absorbed), and cannot be syphoned. On More Foe Resistance, she also becomes immune to Thunder and Ice damage, and gains resistance to Bio damage.
  5. Natalia cannot be enchanted or turned invisible, negating attempts to damage her more.
  6. Natalia's Genesis and Supernova will respectively inflict Cursed and Scorch.
  7. On Hard and Epic difficulty, she can grant Evade to her allies and herself while defending.

Lancelot

File:EBF5Lancelot.png
  1. You cannot call any summon, and skills that summons foes cannot be activated.
  2. Lancelot has very high defence, forcing you to fight with magical attacks.
  3. Lancelot is immune to Bio and Wind damage, absorbs Dark damage, and cannot be inflicted by status effects such as Virus, Burn and Tired. More Foe Resistance also removes Holy damage weakness, and makes Lancelot absorb Fire and Thunder damage instead.
  4. Foes that aids Lancelot are either Turrets, or if Foe Remix is enabled, Bombs.
  5. Lancelot's attacks covers a large amount of damage types, minus Water and Holy damage. Most of his attacks also happens to cover many status effects, such as Virus, Confuse and Death.
  6. Lancelot can perform Nuke as his limit break, which can change the weather to radiation.
  7. Lancelot can also buff his attack, magic attack, evade and accuracy, which can make him an hard target.
  8. If you defeat Lancelot instead of capturing him, he self-destructs himself, risking you to take a painful amount of damage.

Annabelle

File:EBF5Annabelle.png
  1. Any buffs you attempt to use becomes debuffs instead.
    • If you think to use a Blue, Red or Yellow Flybot is going to help you, their effects are negated.
  2. Annabelle has high evade and accuracy, forcing the player to prioritize her as quick as possible.
  3. Many of Annabelle's attacks debuffs your stats, and applies status effects.
  4. Annabelle absorbs Fire, Poison and Dark damage, is immune to Bomb damage, and cannot be inflicted with Tired, Cursed or Weaken. More Foe Resistance also makes her absorb Wind damage as well, which is her weakness, and gains Earth and Thunder resistances.
  5. On Annabelle's 3rd turn and on every 2nd turn afterwards, she will perfom a Bow Whack that removes invisible status, while not taking her turn away.
  6. On Foe Remix, she will summon one of the three hydras.

God

File:EBF5God.png
  1. God has ludicrous HP, Accuracy and Evade stats, which makes him very difficult to hit, unless the accuracy is boosted.
  2. Despite his status buffing your stats, he can still be dangerous to boot.
  3. God gets two attacks per turn, and his attacks doesn't have any element on it, meaning that you have to be extra careful.
  4. If you stack too much Syphon, Weaken, Curse, Tired, Poison or Virus, God will either eat bacon or defend himself, healing himself from the status effects and boosting his stats.
  5. If Matt, Natalie, Lance, Anna or Nolegs are defeated, and has no flair that boosts their stats at revive or grants Auto-Revive, they will be disadvantaged.
  6. Many of God's attacks deal very high damage.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Matteus, Natalia, Lancelot, Annabelle and God are quite memorable, thanks to their personalities (being respectively a hungry clay golem with a love to eat everything that can be considered edible, a religious fanatic that wants to cleanse the world with fire and light, a robot with stoic logic and cold efficiency, a demon that enjoys hunting to inflict pain, and a strong being that helps the party to prepare against the incoming forces)
  2. Despite being hindering (except the latter), Stoned, Undead, Repulsion, Brimstone and Epic (the status effects) are decent enough to give a challenge, and are pretty unique status effects.
  3. Their design does stand out from Matt, Natalie, Lance, Anna and Nolegs.
  4. Their summons are very good, and always target all enemies.
  5. God doesn't have any resistance, which can be helpful.

Tips

  1. An Angel Mirror, Demon Mirror and Ancient Monolith summon can be helpful when fighting one of them.
  2. Against Matteus, damage combos can be very helpful.
  3. It's possible to exploit God's defence buffs and defeat him with Giga Drill, as the skill causes the damage to be increased if the target defends itself or has buffed defences.
  4. It's wise to defeat their allies as well, since they can be troublesome.
  5. Morale and Auto-Revive statuses can be very helpful, since they respectively prevent to die if the health is over 50% and revive without losing stats.
  6. Armors, weapons and Flais that defends the players from certain conditions can be a life saver.
