Five Finger Fillet (Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki
You will surely cut all of your five fingers of how frustrating is the minigame.

Five Finger Fillet is a gambling activity featured in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption II. It can be played in any location with a "hand" symbol on the map.

To play, the player places their hand palm-down on a table with his fingers spread apart. Using a knife, the player attempts to quickly strike the spaces between his fingers, while moving the knife back and forth, attempting to avoid injury. The higher the wager the user chooses the harder the pattern will be. The knife seems to be a larger version of the Throwing Knife.

Why It Makes You Wanna Cut All Of Your Five Fingers

A picture of the minigame in RDR1.
  1. While the first pattern is really easy as you can mash the X/A button several times, the last pattern is hard-as-hell as because you must press the following buttons (X, O, X, △, X, ▢, X, O, X, △/A, B, A, Y, A, X, A, B, A, Y) extrmely fast without even making the buttons show on-sceen or else you will pratically lose by time out. Also this increases the risk of hitting the wrong button causing you to lose. Worst of all you must do said pattern three times to win.
    • You have five attempts. If you lose five times, you're out of the game.
  2. In order to win the minigame you must beat all opponents so beating only one won't count as won.
  3. In the first installment one of the outfits, the Reyes Rebels Outfit requires you to beat all opponents in Five Finger Fillet in Torquemada and unlocking outfits as well as winning the minigame is required to achieve 100% completion as well the trophy/achievement "Redeemed" which is mandatory for the Platinum trophy making the Platinum trophy nigh impossible. However in the sequel one of the mandatory trophies is Hobby Horse which can be unlocked by playing all minigames. Luckily said trophy does not require to win this minigame.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is easier to complete than in the console versions.
