Geese Howard

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki

Geese Howard is the main antagonist of the Fatal Fury series and a playable character in it and the KOF series, mostly as an unlockable character. He's known for being SNK's most notable villain and the earliest known case of the SNK Boss Syndrome.

Note: This article only covers his boss fights in Fatal Fury 1, Art of Fighting 2 & Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. His KOF Neowave appearance has its own page.

Why He Sucks

Fatal Fury 1 (Final Boss)

  1. Extremely overpowered moves.
    • His Reppuken can be cancelled with any projectile, but is much faster than yours', putting you at a severe disadvantage.
    • Spams his counter-grab constantly, mostly to punish aerial attacks.
  2. Massive amounts of damage.
  3. Insane priority; For example, like the CPU, he can change lanes at will, something you couldn't do until the sequel. When you try to attack him by your "changing lanes" & vice-versa, he registers most of the time.
  4. To add salt to the wound, he has his own special continue screen in which he divekicks your character off of his tower, the level the battle takes place in. It really rubs it in your face, & you're gonna see it a lot.
  5. There's a secret ending accessible by not losing a single round in the entire game, him included. Considering his cheapness & that of other foes in this game, good luck reaching it.

Art of Fighting 2 (Secret Final Boss)

  1. Even harder than in Fatal Fury 1.
  2. To get to him, the player character must not lose a single round, easier said than done considering this game's omnipotent AI.
  3. All of his attacks again deal massive damage.
  4. He takes damage the size of a ant.
  5. You will never be on equal footing as him, since during the game you must complete mini-games to extend your spirit bar (which allows you to perform your specials and your super move), your life bar, and to get your super. He has all 3 maxed out, which you can't do at all just like with Mr. Karate in the first game.
  6. Reppuken counts as a low projectile, fooling you many times.
  7. Huge priority in his moves.
  8. Other attacks include Buzzsaw, a jumping slash move the camera can't really keep up with, and a slide, both of which he uses to trap you into a corner with little means of escape.
  9. His super deals 50%+ damage and he seems to be invincible during the attack.
  10. He can stun the player character with just a 2-3 hit combo.

Real Bout Fatal Fury Special (as Nightmare Geese)

  1. To get to him, the player character’s fighting level shouldn’t drop below an A and you must get over 750,000 points.
  2. Insanely fast attacks.
  3. Spams his Shippudens (Aerial Reppukens) non-stop.
  4. The player character has only one chance.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Pretty fun to play as in most of the games he's playable.
  2. Usually fights more fair elsewhere, especially in Real Bout 1 and 2.
  3. A very memorable & admirable character thanks to his charisma, code of honor, sense of style, love of Japanese culture, clever plans, & sarcastic personality.
  4. Amazing theme song.
  5. His fall in Real Bout 1, is one of the most iconic scenes in fighting games for a reason.
  6. His appearance in Art of Fighting 2 spearheaded the creation of King of Fighters along with Ryo Sakazaki's appearance in Fatal Fury Special through the exact same conditions.
  7. In Art of Fighting 2, the player character faces him again during the credits, only he doesn't do jack there, allowing for some juicy payback on your part.
