Note: This list will primarily talk about the fight with Ghetsis in Pokémon Black & White.

Ghetsis is the main antagonist and boss fight in Pokémon Black & White and its sequel Pokémon Black 2 & White 2. He is the leader of Team Plasma and is N's adopted father, and he is the thirtieth and final boss of Pokémon Black & White.

Since his debut, Ghetsis has been one of the most infamous bosses in the entire Pokémon franchise, and not only is he considered one of the hardest bosses in Pokémon Black & White, but is often considered as one of the hardest bosses in the entire Pokémon series.

Why He Sucks

  1. Ghetsis is overall a hateful pure evil character, as he is depicted as a too generic "I want to take over the world because I'm evil" antagonist, he also caused some other actions as well.
    1. Ghetsis tricks the Pokemon Trainers into believing that Pokemon should be free, only to use them for his plans to take over the world.
    2. Ghetsis is also very cruel to his adopted son N, one of the biggest examples is after the final fight with N, where Ghetsis calls him out for losing and even go so far as to call him "A Warp Defective Boy who knows nothing about Pokémon".
  2. Two out of six of Ghetsis' Pokémon share two Physical moves that are both dangerous and powerful.
    1. Wild Charge is an Electric-type Physical move that is shared by Bouffalant and Electross, that does massive damage and is also a huge threat for Water and Flying-type Pokémon, although it does recoil damage to them.
    2. Earthquake: A Ground-type Physical move which Bouffalant and Seismitoad have, which is very powerful, can also hit Pokemon while underground using Dig and is a counter for Electric, Fire, Rock and Steel-types.
  3. Ghetsis has six Pokémon, all of which are extremely strong and are brutal, as well as having high status, along with his infamous Hydregion:
    1. The first Pokémon in Ghetsis' team is Cofagrigus, who is a pain, having a selection of moves that are annoying.
      1. Toxic: A Poison-type status move that does damage to the Pokémon overtime, and gets stronger.
      2. Protect is a Normal-type status move that can block all damage from a Pokémon unless they use Faint.
      3. Psychic is a Psychic-type Special move and counter for Fighting or Poison-type Pokémon.
      4. Shadow Ball: A powerful Ghost-type that not only is a threat for Psychic and other Ghost-type Pokemon, but can also lower your Pokémon's Special Defense.
    2. The second Pokémon is Bouffalant, who is can be a real threat as not only does it only have one weakness to Fighting-types, but in addition to having Wild Charge and Earthquake, it also has the following:
      1. Head Charge: A powerful Normal-type Physical move, although it does recoil damage.
      2. Poison Jab is a Poison-type Physical move that can be a real threat to Grass-type Pokémon and can also cause a Poison Status.
    3. The third Pokémon in Ghetsis' team is Seismitoad, who is not too threatening, but only has one weakness and in addition to Earthquake, Seismitoad also has three other moves that are dangerous.
      1. Rain Dance is a Water-type Status move that not only does it weaken Fire-type moves but powers up its Water-type Moves, and makes itself faster with its ability, Swift Swim.
      2. Sludge Wave: A Poison-type Special move that can infect the Poison Status, as well as being a counter for Grass-type Pokemon.
      3. Muddy Water is a Water-type Special move can be a real threat for Fire, Rock and Ground-type Pokémon, but can also lower your Pokémon's accuracy.
    4. The fourth Pokémon in Ghetsis' team is Bisharp, who also isn't to dangerous, but has hard hitting move such as:
      1. Stone Edge: A Rock-type Physical move that not only is it a threat for Bug, Flying, Ice and Fire-type Pokémon, but also can lower your Pokémon's speed.
      2. Night Slash is a Dark-type Physical move that has a high chance for a Critical Hit as well as being a real danger for Psychic and Ghost-type Pokémon.
      3. Metal Burst is a Steel-type counter Physical move that does double the damage back at your team, and since it's a Steel-type move, Ice and Rock-type Pokémon could be in trouble.
      4. X-Scissor: A Bug-type Physical move that is trouble for Grass, Psychic and Dark-type Pokémon.
    5. Ghetsis' fifth Pokémon is Electross, who is the first infamous Pokémon in Ghetsis' team, not only does its Levitate ability give it absolutely no weaknesses unless your Pokémon has the Mold Breaker Ability. But in addition to Wild Charge, Electross has three other moves that pack a punch.
      1. Crunch is a Dark-type Physical move that can be a real threat for Psychic and Ghost-type Pokémon.
      2. Flamethrower, which is a Fire-type Special move that not only can infect the burn status, but is also a threat for Grass, Bug, Ice and Steel-type Pokémon.
      3. Acrobatics: A Flying-type Physical move that does high damage as well as be a threat for Bug, Grass and Fighting-type Pokémon.
    6. Ghetsis' sixth and final Pokémon, however, is his infamous Hydregion. This is probably the most infamous part of the entire battle, as it has a selection of moves that makes it EXTREMELY powerful, as well as give it a huge coverage.
      1. Fire Blast: A powerful Fire-type Special move, not only can it too also infect the burn status, but is also a counter for Grass, Bug, Ice and Steel-type Pokémon.
      2. Surf is a Water-type Special move that can be a threat for Fire, Rock and Ground-type Pokémon.
      3. Focus Blast, which is a Fighting-type Special move, is not only a counter for Normal, Ice, Rock and Steel-type Pokemon, but can also lower your Pokémon's defenses.
      4. Dragon Pulse: A Dragon-type Special move is not only powerful, but is also a counter for other Dragon-type Pokémon.
  4. Ghetsis is a massive cheater, his most infamous example is his Hydreigon, who's level is at 54, even though it can't evolve until level 64, making Ghetsis a hacker.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Ghetsis has an awesome boss theme.
  2. Despite all of Ghetsis' actions, he's still an intimidating antagonist.
  3. Ghetsis' battles in later entries have been made a tad bit easier.
