Giant's Knife (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki

The Giant's Knife is a weapon in The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is bought from Medigoron as Adult Link and is called a powerful weapon. It is indeed a powerful weapon... until it breaks which happens in a severely short amount of time after buying it.

Why It Sucks

  1. The Giant's knife costs 200 rupees to buy. That is the maximum amount of rupees you are able to hold with the Adult's Wallet, and you likely won't have the Giant's Wallet by the time you reach this point.
  2. The Giant's Knife does indeed start out very powerful when first bought. However, that power is short lived as the sword will break after only 4 uses.
  3. A new Giant's Knife can be purchased that lasts a little longer, but each lifespan is painfully short and the maximum durability will be 8 hits.
  4. The Giant's Knife will break in three hits if it is swung against a wall regardless of how many are bought.
  5. The broken Giant's knife has the same power as the Kokiri Sword, which renders it useless when the Master Sword is more powerful than that.
  6. The broken Giant's Knife has very short range. Shorter than that of the Master Sword which further renders it useless.
  7. Being a two-handed weapon, you have no access to shields while you have the Giant's Knife equipped. This still applies even when it is broken.
  8. You are unable to perform a spin attack with the Giant's Knife.

Trivia

  1. It is better to save your rupees on other things and instead wait until the quest to get the Biggoron's Sword is available. The Biggoron's Sword has the same amount of power, and unlike the Giant's Knife, it will not break.
