Jigglypuff's Shield Break (Super Smash Bros.)
NOTE: Don't change "It" or "its" for "he/she" or "his/her", as Jigglypuffs have no sexual dimorphism and referring to it as female is very common.
Jigglypuff's Shield Break is a mechanic for Jigglypuff in the Super Smash Bros. series.
Why It Intentionally Sucks
- If Jigglypuff's Shield is broken, it flies up to the sky as fast as the speed of light, and if nothing is blocking the way, the Jigglypuff player gets a cheap KO.
- Not only that, but that makes it a bad idea to shield when it comes to sheilding strong attacks like King Dedede's Fully Charged Jet Hammer or Forward Smash, Ganondorf's Warlock Punch, Byleth's Aymr, and Marth/Lucina's Fully Charged Shield Breaker, some professional shield-breaking moves.
- None of Smash's other characters had this problem, so it makes no sense for this problem to be exclusive to Jigglypuff.
- Even if something is blocking the way, its dizzy animation is rather dumb. It looks up and down and makes a priceless face.
- Also, it takes a long time for you to get back up from getting dizzy, and it leaves you wide open to attacks.
- This also gave Jigglypuff some poor results in tournaments or in Classic Mode.
Redeeming Qualities
- If you're fighting a Jigglypuff CPU, the mechanic can make it easy to defeat them.
- It serves as an effective reminder to why Jigglypuff is the "balloon" Pokémon, which can somehow be humorous.
Trivia
- In Super Smash Bros. 64, its Star KO could be heard if its shield breaks, but it is low pitched.
