Metal Ability (Kirby: Squeak Squad)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki
Metal Kirby can walk...in the slowest way possible!

The Metal Ability is one of Kirby's Copy Abilities in Kirby: Squeak Squad, once inhaled it makes the character hurt enemies on contact and allows him to stomp while also making his movements a lot slower, the enemy which gives Kirby the ability becomes available after the first boss battle with King Dedede.

Why It's Not So Metal

  1. It feels like an awful joke version of Mario's Metal Cap (its description in the game speaks for itself similar to Sleep Ability), while unlimited it makes Kirby move way too slow.
  2. It's also a bad replacement for Stone Ability mixed with Invisibility Candy, as it somewhat works like both but not in the same good way.
  3. Its only main attack stomp works better on enemies (which doesn't even take a lot of effort to defeat as normal Kirby) and to break some metal bricks, for bosses it's likely to take contact damage from them or not even hit them on time.
  4. It's mostly useful to get some collectables and solve some sections, which in this game aren't that big of a deal, especially considering the fact that nothing stops the player from having Hammer or Invisibility Candy in the bottom screen and use them in those sections.
  5. It ignores Kirby's spray paint color once inhaled unlike most other abilities (ignoring the exclusive locked one).

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The ability gets an attack which makes it a bit more fun to use with the Ability Scroll.
  2. Kirby's poligonal form that he always gets from the Copy Ability is pretty interesting to look at.
  3. It does live up to its name, as it makes Kirby invulnerable to some enemies, hazards like lava and even some attacks like the Ice Laser.

Trivia

  • It is the first and so far, the last debut in the series as a Copy Ability, but not the first or last time Kirby can get a metal form.
