Metal Sonic (Sonic CD)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki
You might know everything I'm going to do, but that's not gonna help you, since I know everything YOU'RE going to do!

Metal Sonic is a major antagonist and boss fight in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is also the secondary antagonist and boss fight of mh:awesomegames:Sonic CD, the main boss of Stardust Speedway and overall the sixth and penultimate boss of the game.

Ever since Metal Sonic’s debut, his battle in this game has become pretty popular, but it has a handful of flaws.

Bad Qualities

  1. Unlike all the other bosses in the game, this is a racing boss where you have to race Metal Sonic to get to Amy (or Rosy as she was called back then), which is sort of unfair considering that Metal Sonic will always keep up with the player if they are ahead of him, rubberbanding style.
  2. Unlike the previous five bosses, there's no actual way to attack Metal Sonic while racing him while he can unpredictably use his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack.
  3. As expected, Metal is pretty fast when you race him so you have to keep up with him at all costs, which means you pretty much have to constantly spin dash or peel out throughout this battle.
  4. Trying to keep up with Metal Sonic can also be a bit of a pain as there are also spikes along the way, so you have to watch where he is running.
  5. Overall you're pretty much forced to do this boss without getting hit (Which to be fair isn't impossible, just unlikely).
  6. This battle overall is a bit of a difficulty spike, because this is the only boss in the game that can kill you without being con on purpose, what with Eggman's laser, so you are on a bit of a time limit. Granted, this is the penultimate boss of the game, but even that is harsh.
  7. This battle introduces a logic problem in the series: if Eggman can use a laser to kill Sonic even with rings, why on Earth he wouldn't use it more often?
