Shot Put (Mario & Sonic)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki
This Olympic event could have done better without the blowing feature...
...and please don't shout at this event.

Shot Put is an Olympic event that appeared in the 3DS versions of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with the latter being found in the training event. This event is infamous for shouting at the microphone.

Why It Will Shout At The Top Of People's Lungs

  1. This Olympic event is infamous for shouting at the microphone at the top of their lungs, whenever the player throws the ball. Who thought this was a good idea?!
  2. Because of that, other people will catch you because of the screaming.
    • Even worse is that if you live with parents, there's a chance that you will get grounded if you insist with screaming because of the minigame.
  3. The shouting can simply boost the power of the thrown ball just to aim for a high score.
  4. When players are trying to throw the ball, the power meter is quick, making it harder to aim the maximum power.
  5. Wasted potential: For some reason, it manages to return in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for the Nintendo 3DS, which is completely dreadful and the developers would have picked Weightlifting (also infamous for shouting), Modern Penthalon, or Triathlon instead.
  6. Missed opportunity: The developers would have blown it for a boost rather than shouting at the microphone, which is much easier than that and it would have boosted more than that as well.
  7. It is nearly impossible to get a gold medal for people when they have asthma.
  8. The music in the Olympic event is repetitive.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The idea of shouting at the camera is somewhat interesting, but it was sadly executed poorly.
  2. The Rio 2016 version is optional and players will not have a hard time getting a gold medal since this one is a training event.
