Skorpius (God of War 3)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki

WARNING: This list contains spoilers for the rest of the God of War series bosses.

Seriously, this is the first of the last two big bosses you fight before the big final battle against Zeus in the formal final game of the series?

Skorpius is an antagonist and boss fight of God of War 3, she is the queen of all scorpions, is the main boss of the cargo level, is the first of the two last bosses before the final battle ageists Zeus, and is overall the seventh/third-to-last boss of the game, as well as the formal third-to-last boss of the entire God of War series.

In a game with epic battles agents bosses that are big strong titans, gods or legendary beasts that are challenging and fun, Skorpius is among one of the most disliked bosses in the game, both for battle and overall qualities.

Why She Sucks

  1. To get the elephant-in-the-room is Skorpius' design, you're fighting a big scorpion, which sounds fine until you realize that this is from God of War, a game with gods for bosses.
  2. Wasted potential: Skorpius is not only the first of the last two God of War 3, but its also worth noting that God of War 3 was originally the final game of the series, so Skorpius would also have been the first of the last two bosses of the whole series before the big epic showdown agents Zeus, out of any kind of creature to use as a boss in a game series that based on Greek Mythology with big epic legendary beast (such as a Manticore, Phoenix or a Dragon), as well as a big set-up before the big climax in what would have been the final installment of the God of War series, a scorpion of all things is very underwhelming for the third-to-last boss, especially when the previous game's third-to-last bosses (as in God of War 2) was agents Lahkesis and Atropos (one of the three Sisters of Fate).
    1. To add salt to the wound, Poseidon (God of the Sea) was the first boss of the same game.
  3. In order to even damage Skorpius, you have to damage her legs with the Nemean Cestus, which sounds easy at first, but there are a few problems.
    1. The Nemean Cestus is very slow and, while very powerful, is somewhat clunky.
    2. Skorpius always moves around, which makes the posses of hitting her legs even more tedious.
    3. Skorpius' legs have very small hit-boxes, so you're gonna be missing a lot.
      1. They also take quite a number of hits to even be destroyed.
  4. After getting damaged a few times, Skorpius will run off the arena and will pop out from the sides to spew out an ice breath, making the battle take way longer than it should.
  5. Skorpius has many attacks that are not only fast, but also have HUGE janky hit-boxes, one such infamous example is her tail attack, when even if you're far to the side, it will damage Kratos after landing.
    1. The tail itself can also do high damage, and can take a good chunk of Kratos' health.
  6. Before and though out the whole battle, Skorpius will have an army of smaller scorpions to pester you.
  7. Very bad placement: This boss battle happens right after the boss fight agents Cronus, talk about whip lash in qualities.
  8. being the third-to-last boss of the game, Skorpius has a lot of health, so this battle will be very long and bland.
  9. The only way to gain health is by defeating the smaller scorpions, which is easier said then done.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. While it is disappointing that your fighting a scorpion, at least Skorpius' design is awesome.
  2. The last two bosses are a massive improvment.
  3. The music that plays is decent.
