Soul of Sectonia (Kirby: Triple Deluxe)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki
Hey, at least there’s something even more challenging, right?

The Soul of Sectonia is the DX version of Queen Sectonia, the main antagonist of Kirby: Triple Deluxe. She's a secret boss that only appears in the end of the True Arena, the final sub-game of Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and the final boss of said mode.

While this boss is not as bad as Pyribbit, Soul of Sectonia has been criticized by critics, players and fans of the game, for her extremely high difficulty in battle.

Why She Sucks

  1. Because this boss can only be fought in the True Arena, you have to fight ALL of the bosses that you’ve fought in Dededetour. And keep in mind, the True Arena not only has DX bosses, but also Dark Meta Knight and Shadow Dedede, which are both considered hard bosses for first-time players.
  2. Since Soul of Sectonia is the FINAL boss of this mode in the game, it will be extremely difficult to face her at full health.
  3. Despite that Sectonia’s attacks are almost the same as the original, they’re more powerful and more harder to avoid.
    • She also has some new attacks in the first phase too, such as that vine strike attack that is fast and difficult to avoid (unless you use Stone Kirby or Leaf Kirby) and deals high damage. During the third phase (as mentioned below), the vines become much faster and much harder to avoid.
  4. In each phase as you battle the Soul of Sectonia, there will be a series of bottomless pits. Not only do they somewhat cram up the amount of space for you to avoid any of Sectonia's attacks, but that means that there is also another way for you to lose, as you could accidentally fall in at some points.
    1. This is also a problem, as the ability stars that you might accidentally drop after being hit could fall down top a pit, and as such, you will lose them for the rest of the fight.
      • Even worse, as you can't move in mid air after inhaling an ability star, you might accidentally inhale the ability star that you dropped, only for you to drop down to the bottomless pit by accident.
  5. After you’ve defeated Soul of Sectonia in the second phase, you might think that you would've completed the True Arena for good, but before you say anything about this, there is a third form that was not seen in the original fight with Queen Sectonia, which will catch any players off-guard.
    • Now granted, Kirby: Super Star Ultra did have a very similar twist with Marx Soul. However, Marx Soul was made way before Kirby: Triple Deluxe, so you wouldn't think that they would do that twist again, and it did not have you fight his first form.
  6. If you thought the Soul of Sectonia was bad enough, her third form is even WORSE for these reasons:
    1. Sectonia will constantly teleport, making it difficult to hit her and know where she stops.
      • To make matters worse, Sectonia will occasionally summon Antlers to stop you each time she teleports, especially with Lord Antler.
    2. Sectonia is also always high above you, so unless you have an ability with a range attack, you're going to jump a lot, just to even damage her.
    3. Sectonia can also turn into a gooey ball of paint, which can spew out multiple pink and blue paint blobs to damage you unlike Marx Soul and Drawcia Soul, which are fast and difficult to avoid.
    4. Seconia can open up portals and fire a series of pink colored energy lasers, not only can they be hard to avoid, but they can also do high damage.
    5. Sectonia can also turn into a giant flaming ball of paint, which can not only dash really fast, but can also leave behind a trail of fire which can deal high amounts of damage, as well as being difficult to avoid (except if you have Stone Kirby or Leaf Kirby).
    6. One of Sectonia's attacks after she stops teleporting is wrapping her wings around her, and then shoot out 4 spinning blades that can deeply damage you unlike other soul bosses. However, they’re easy to avoid.
  7. Being the final boss, Soul of Sectonia has insanely high HP.
  8. The design of the third phase of Soul of Sectonia is kinda bland: it’s literally just Queen Sectonia’s floating head.
  9. After you defeat the Soul of Sectonia, her death isn’t as satisfying as the original Queen Sectonia: She just explodes into petals.
  10. Being that the Soul of Sectonia is only found in the True Arena (in which you have only one chance of completing it), this means that if you lose her to, even in her secret third form, you have to start the E-N-T-I-R-E True Arena ALL over again.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. At least this fight does actually put up more of a challenge, compared to the original.
  2. While the third phase design of Soul of Sectonia is bland, her second phase design is awesome (and sort of better than the original one).
  3. The music that plays during this fight is amazing.
  4. While Sectonia's attacks are hard to avoid and cause high damage, she has an awesome variety of attacks, with some of them being a reference to other soul bosses (like Drawcia and/or Marx).
  5. Thankfully, as stated above, this boss is only fought in the True Arena, which means it‘s completely optional, and it’s also never fought in Dededetour.

Tips

  1. Be sure to eat any food if absolutely necessary.
  2. Use the Stone/Leaf copy abilities at all costs, as Kirby will not get damaged by any of her attacks.
