The Enchantress (Shovel Knight)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki

(Warning: Spoilers from different campaigns)

The Enchantress is the main antagonist of the four campaigns of Shovel Knight, and the second to last boss of Specter of Torment and King of Cards (except Plague of Shadows). She's the evil sorceress that formed the Order of no Quarters, and is revealed to be a controlled Shield Knight.

There's no joking around with her. But the bottomless pits will be with her as well.

Why she Sucks

  1. Much like the case with Lord Arktivus Brevon and Darkrai, The Enchantress caused so much chaos during the game's campaigns, that she's considered too dark for a kids/teen game.
    1. Remember Specter Knight and King Knight? Two of the main characters from respectively Specter of Torment and King of Cards? It turns out that The Enchantress planned to make them join the order by manipulating them.
      • As for Specter Knight/Donovan, after Enchantress revived him, he turns Dark Reize into a monster, so that she would trick him into selling his humanity to save Reize, causing the former to unwillingly serve her (as well with Treasure Knight, Tinker Knight, Propeller Knight Plague Knight, Polar Knight and Mole Knight being submitted to serve her after Specter Knight defeated them).
      • As for King Knight, she realizes that the tension between him and the other king was very high, and offered the knight a throne to rule, should the former abandon his friends. What didn't help is King Pridemoor saying to King Knight about what would think the latter's mum, which made him snap.
    2. During Specter of Torment, she turns Reize, the son of Luan (Donovan/Specter Knight's former friend) into Dark Reize.
    3. It turns out she created Joustus solely to distract the people from her plan. This even includes Black Knight and Phantom Striker.
    4. She created a fake joustus judge, King Birder, so that the other judges would be tricked into going to him.
    5. When Shovel Knight reaches Tower of Fate, she powers up Black Knight against his will, forcing him to fight the former.
  2. The Enchantress flies and fires projectiles, which is troublesome.
  3. The floor is mostly made of dirt blocks, something to be careful.
  4. Her most dangerous attack is to destroy the floor, which can cost Shovel Knight, Plague Knight, Specter Knight and/or King Knight their entire health (unless they have a special armor that saves them from pits).
  5. Although she can restore blocks, said blocks are also destructible.
  6. The Enchantress has lots of HP, so prepare yourself for a long battle.
  7. If you play as Shovel Knight, you have to fight The Enchantress in her final form, the Remnant of Fate. Problem is, her only weakpoint in this form is the head, and you have to be helped by Shield Knight.
    • She can also use projectiles and destroy a platform, so be careful.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Despite her actions, she's a memorable character, being able to turn the comic tone of the game into a serious one.
  2. The soundtrack for her battle is cool.
  3. Amazing design.
