The Human Comedy (Gran Turismo 7)

The Human Comedy is a Mission Challenge event in Gran Turismo 7 as part of the 1.11 update. These events are Endurance races and while some are pretty easy to win races, others are simply unfair, given the unnecessary gaps in specific races. Notably, unlike the other six Mission Challenges that are challenging yet rewarding, The Human Comedy has a serious difficulty spike.

Why It's More Frustrating Than Funny

  1. Some of these races can be incredibly brutal and unwinnable at times:
    • Deep Forest Raceway One Hour: No matter which car or setup you use (unless if you're lucky enough), you're already at a disadvantage because the leading opponent is in the Porsche Taycan Turbo S '19, an electric vehicle that's immensely difficult to catch up because the leading opponent just widens the gap ten-fold and rarely ever makes any pit stops. Therefore, it makes finishing 1st straight up difficult. What's worse is that the PP limit is restricted at 620 PP, which makes it even more unfair.
    • Alsace One Hour: Yes, all opponents have beefed-up cars designed to force you to upgrade your car (without exceeding 600 PP, of course), or risk finishing dead last. And no amount of content releases will help you unless you try and come up with an unorthodox method.
    • Autopolis One Hour: Most players are not aware of opponents driving Kei cars that are literally souped up to the point where it becomes a chore to race, and because their cars are borderline fast as a result of their tune-ups, you're pretty much on the receiving end from the very start.
    • Lake Maggiore Circuit One Hour: While on hand it looks easy enough, it actually isn't due to the sizable gap. Additionally, the AI will sometimes deliberately run you off the road for absolutely no reason, other than to stop you from even trying to catch up to first. And even then the large gap doesn't help much at the start of the race.
  2. The reward vehicles, the Nissan Fairlady Z '69 for getting all Bronze, alongside the Aston Martin DB5 '64 for getting all Gold, are pretty lackluster since both of these vehicles can be bought from the Legendary Car Dealership at far more reasonable prices, making said rewards feel utterly mediocre.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. Only a few of these race events are quite forgiving and rewarding, especially with Red Bull Ring where rain occurs and opponents that didn't make a pit stop when rainfall happens will end up struggling, which will earn you an easy win.
