Version 2.0 (Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition)

From Atrocious Gameplay Wiki
The Pokémon Diamond & Pearl version of Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition is a role-playing puzzle game that shares elements from Puzzle & Dragons and was released for the Nintendo 3DS. Here, the Version 2.0 is an update that was released on December 24, 2015, worldwide, and December 16, 2015, in Japan.

Why This Version Sucks

  1. The problem is that there are too MANY Light-type characters in this version update (having 17 characters), making Water-type characters unbalanced (having 11 characters), similar to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (and later Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) Pokedex where there are TOO MANY Water-type Pokemon (33 of them) than Ice, Electric, Fire, and Dragon types (Ice has 4, Fire and Dragon have 5, and Electric has 7).
    • DLC spirits from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have only one Shield-type legendary support spirit, two Neutral-type legendary support spirits, and four Attack and Grab-type legendary support spirits in Spirit battles, making it unbalanced and it would have been better to have two or three Shield-type legendary support spirits.
  2. Wasted Potential: The developers would have a better pick for Purple Magikoopa if they add Ice Flower to make "Purple/Blue Magikoopas" (which was supposed to balance the added character roster), but nope, they use Super Mushrooms to make "Purple/Yellow Magikoopas", which causes the Light-type characters to become unbalanced and it was rather pathetic.
    • Also, they would also choose Kamek since he is one of the villains in this game, but they decide not to choose him as an ally.
  3. In Score Attack, unlocking new variants for Mario and Luigi are very hard (except Stage 1 for both fixed and free challenges, which they can get A rank with four orbs), because the players have to complete them under 200 seconds (S Rank, SS Rank for stage 5), which is pathetic for inexperienced players.
  4. Speaking of that, players have to get those ranks with ALL THE SIX orbs in each area, except Stage 1 and 4, which is just annoying.
  5. For some reason, the sides are cropped out when using a skill, with the worst offender being Boomerang Mario and Boomerang Luigi.
  6. Getting the Gold-2 or Gold-3 Goomba Towers is very hard since players have to befriend them for a very long time, which is repetitive.
  7. If the player wants to transform new characters, then they have to use SIX transformation items to unlock them, which is a chore.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. All the allies, are not bad, especially Boomerang Mario and Luigi, despite the SS Rank.
  2. Players can awaken low-tier characters to improve their skills.
  3. They can use those new allies to improve their team in this game, especially Star worlds.
  4. Stage 1 (for both fixed and free challenges) is the only stage in Score Attack to unlock allies easily since there are four orbs.
